A Sweet Sweat Success Story

Allow us to introduce you to a remarkable woman named Damaris Jacquelyne, a Sweat Squad member with a story we can't keep to ourselves.  While we're lucky to receive several success stories in our inboxes every week, this particular transformation straight up gave us chills.  I mean, check out this before and after!  After you grab your jaw off the floor, pour yourself a cup of collagen-enriched coffee and please enjoy this exclusive interview with Sweet Sweat Ambassador, Damaris.



Tell us about yourself! When did your personal journey into fitness begin and what motivated you to get started?

My name is Damaris and I started my fitness journey on February 7th, 2018. I was born in Tampa, FL and was pretty much raised between here and Puerto Rico. I am currently 25 years old and have lost over 100 lbs. I had many many many "start dates" to be honest but this one was different. I had met an amazing person and he was into fitness and into the healthy lifestyle. Of course I'd be lying if I didn't say that played a good 25% role into my seriousness to start. I wanted more confidence. I wanted to look like the pretty girls in the gym with just a sports bra on, spotting their boyfriends and doing cute workouts together.

Then there is the other 75% that was personal. I could barely walk to get my mail without feeling sick/tired, my skin was bad, I ate until I literally could not breath to just sleep it off and repeat it again when I woke up. Eventually it started to take such a toll on me that I hated to walk past a mirror, and I knew I needed to change. I started waking up at 4:30 am every morning and going to the gym to use the elliptical. It started with 1 mile, then 2 then 5 then 8 miles a day.

Now I lift weights, I run outside, I do workouts with my boyfriend in my sports bra and spot him when he needs it. I watch myself in the mirror constantly at the gym now instead of avoiding it. I worked hard and am freaking proud of how far I have come!

What is your health and wellness mantra?

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

What is a typical weekly workout schedule for you?

I typically workout after work on Monday - Friday. That usually consists of weights and strength training, and I use Saturday and Sunday as cardio days.

How do you stay motivated throughout the week, especially during a global pandemic?

This has been my biggest challenge but I would have to say before and after pictures. These bad boys work wonders when you see side by side pictures of the results you are getting while adjusting to not having your normal workout regimen at hand.



How do you incorporate Sweet Sweat into your day-to-day life?

I use Sweet Sweat faithfully every single workout. I use the Waist Trimmer and Arm Trimmers along with the Sweet Sweat Coconut Stick for my workouts and I usually use the Pro Series Waist Trimmer when I am doing chores around the house or relaxing at home. No sweet sweat = No workout. When I do not have it, it is the equivalent of not having my headphones at the gym.

What would you tell someone who is skeptical of Sweet Sweat?

If you are skeptical and don't try it, how do you know you don't like it? Don't knock it until you try it!

What is your favorite song to workout to?

I don't have a favorite song per say, but I love to listen to the radio station Cello Wars on Pandora. If I had to pick a song, I would have to go with Jowell y Randy Guayeteo.



Do you have any role models in the fitness industry?

I have people who I say are "goals" all of the time but @Evolve.Nation @Kaliburns and @AshleyFloresFit on IG would be my top three role models.

What does living a healthy lifestyle mean to you?

A healthy lifestyle to me is something that you have turned from a decision into a habit. We can all make the decision to eat healthy, but it takes hard work and repetition to turn that decision into a habit which in turn will result in a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle to me is knowing that you can have a cookie and not have to run an extra 30 minutes on the treadmill because you have learned what balance is. It is being free and happy with yourself and your reflection in the mirror. It is knowing you are one of a kind. A healthy life style isn't only what you eat, it is what you speak, see and hear also.
