Jumpstart Your Wellness Goals for the New Year

It doesn’t have to be a new year to be a new you - but it doesn’t hurt either. The end of the year churn makes sticking to a goal difficult, let alone starting a new one. Nevertheless, a little head start never hurt anyone, right?

Here are some tips for jumpstarting your wellness goals heading into the new year. When January 1 comes, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running:

Set Your Goal SMARTly

Corporate baddies know the way to set a goal is to follow the SMART method. Goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Rather than say I want to improve my mental clarity, you should say: “In order to improve my mental clarity, I am going to meditate for at least 15 minutes a day, every day through the end of the year. I’ll rate aspects of my mental clarity at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year to see how much I’ve improved.”

Map Out a Game Plan

Omaha-97…Hike! Better to start off a play knowing the game plan. At the very least—get the who, what, where, when, and why’s answered. Here are some questions to consider when developing a plan for your goal:

  • Do you plan on completing the goal on your own or with a buddy?
  • Would you benefit from a coach?
  • Do you have a place to practice/train? For example, have you tried out different gyms to make sure you feel comfortable there? If you’re working out at home, do you have the basic equipment you need to succeed (such as a thick yoga mat and basic workout essentials)?
  • How often do you plan on actively working toward your goal? Every day? 3 times a week?
  • Why are you doing this? Create a vision board to keep your motivation in your sights.

Supplement your Body

Progress always starts from within, and supplements may help give your body that extra edge to succeed. For instance, if your goal is fitness related—taking Pre Sweat prior to your workout can help maximize your energy and output. Or maybe you want to improve your skincare routine—Collagen Beauty Complex is designed to support your skin’s defense strategy.

Practice Self-Forgiveness

Discipline should prevail when motivation fails. Frame your mindset around the understanding that throughout the year, you will likely not be motivated every single day— it’s normal!

Rather than trying to find ways to stay motivated when things get tough, practice training even when you don’t want to. It’s easy to feel lost when you lose momentum. Forgive yourself and try again tomorrow.

Ask yourself—how many things do you wish you would’ve started this time last year? As your work toward your goal, honor that feeling and you’ll be amazed by how much you will grow.
